The highly anticipated New York State of Mind Tour featuring Wu-Tang Clan, Nas and a recently added Busta Rhymes, kicked off on Tuesday (8/30) in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

Rocking a camo outfit, shades and a diamond encrusted « N » chain, Nas ran through his catalog of hits which included « It Ain’t Hard To Tell, » « The World Is Yours, » « Made You Look, » « Hate Me Now, » « New York State of Mind » and « If I Ruled The World ». The stage was decorated with a small-scale Statue of Liberty, while widescreen monitors broadcasted scenes from 1990s NYC, providing an almost interactive experience.

The Wu was almost complete, even featuring ODB’s son Young Dirty Bastard, but minus Method Man. The Clan ran through « Bring Da Ruckus, » « Triumph » and « C.R.E.A.M., » as well as their many solo hits. Nas treated the crowd to a rendition of « Verbal Intercourse, » the classic collaboration from Raekwon’s Only Built For Cuban Linx.

Busta Rhymes closed the show with « Pass The Courvoisier, » « Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See » and « Break Ya Neck ». While opening a bottle onstage, Busta proposed a toast and announced, « Wu-Tang, Nas and Busta Rhymes — this is the first time that this is happening in 30 years of our friendship, 30 years of our brotherhood and the last 30 years in fucking Hip-Hop. »
