LL Cool J honored with statue in Queens
Recently, the Queens emcee was honored with his own statue in his hometown of Queens, New York─The piece was created by NYC artist Sherwin Banfield, featuring a young LL COOL J wearing his iconic Kangol hat with a Boombox Soundsystem body holding a cassette tape of his debut studio album, Radio.
“Anything is possible. Statue of me in Corona Park, Queens by the talented @sherwintheartist,” LL captioned his Instagram post.
“A Sculptural Sonic Monument dedicated to the legacy of Queens Hip-Hop legend @llcoolj ,” wrote Banfield. “His native Queens, NY and historical performances at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This Monument is also known as The G.O.A.T. Monument.”
This tribute to LL comes after his induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — an honor presented to him by Dr. Dre.
